Interview: Sauce Kid Feb 23, 2009 // Uncategorized // admin
He came into the game with a big bounce “Yebariba Sanboribobo” a spin off Remy Ma’s “conceited”, produced by Scott Storch, his lyrics and swagger were correct and he was quick to integrate into Nigeria music scene. Fact is he has no album out yet other than his “Moneylong: The Mixtape Best of both worlds” mixtape but the buzz around him is so high that haters can’t help but to love this dude (no homo).
We at Nigerianhiphop.net wanted to give you guys a chance to get to know him a little better and get to know the man behind the national anthem “Yebariba Sanboribobo”.

6. With your style you could have easily blend with American hip-hop, what prompted you to rep the mother land?
I repped the motherland because I did not like those who were reppin it before me. They did not give it international standards. I’m bred in America and I know how to blend both cultures almost prefectly. So it was a good look for me to come into the nigerian industry and besides, no one was bringing the package I brought to the table.
7. What will you like to see changed in the music industry?
I’d like to see more music stores in Nigeria. I’d like to see the issue of piracy tackled and eradicated. I’d like more distribution networks.
8. It has come to our notice that you are working on African American, when is it dropping?
African American drops as soon as this credit crunch relaxes. I’m looking for the best possible situation for that album.
9. Any insight into what the content might look or sound like?
The content of the album is fresh. African and American vibes in one. Bringing 2 or more cultures together to appreciate one material. You can look forward to some heavy hitters on the album as well.
10. What do you think separates you from other artists around at the moment?
My tattoos, my accent, my look, my mentality, my EXPOSURE. U can’t buy exposure.Just gotta be exposed or i’ll always know more, lol.
11. Who would you consider your peers or competition when we talk about hip-hop in Nigeria?
I consider M.I a good addition to the industry. I consider Ikechukwu a very talented man in the industry… I dont consider anyone competition because when it comes down to it, who wanna compete will step up to the plate. I just make music I’m comfortable with representing.
12. How have you dealt with the business side of things? With the promotion and generally getting your name out there?
Well for this project, I am working with the storm team and I am handling the business side as professional as possible. All my business affairs are to be handled by my managers! as usual.
13. Who did you listen to growing up? & Who are you listening to today?
I listened to fabolous, Styles P, Jadakiss, Busta Rhymes and Eminem. These days, I’m still listening to the same people becuase they are consistent.
14. If you could collaborate with any artist(s) (Dead or Alive), who would it be?
Eminem, Jadakiss, Busta Rhymes, Styles P, and Fabolous.
